Jan.15 - Thursday : Rode the Bowl and Accotink for about an hour and half. Tried to stay with the fast MORE group, but I got dropped after the Bowl and about 30 minutes into riding in Accotink. Went ahead and finished up riding on my own, then headed back to the car and over to the bar for wings.

Jan.16 - Friday : Not a damn thing.

Jan.17 - Saturday : Rode Schaeffer Farms with 2 other singlespeeders and a couple of gearies. It was supposed to be a slow ride, but with Ricky D. leading it was faster than even I usually go. Good times though, we actually stopped a lot to ride and re-ride the logs. I made it up and over a 3 ft. log that was a little less than handlebar height. I also pulled off a sweet wheelie drop from a couple feet in the air off a log pile. We rode for about 2 hours.

Jan.18 - Sunday & Jan.19 - Monday : Not a damn thing.

Jan.20 - Tuesday : Scud and I did an urban ride for a little under 2 hours. Messing around in the front yard doing wheelies, I slipped off the back of the bike right on my ass. We rode through Arlington, hit up a couple of hills in the parks, then down to Courthouse where we rode back up to the top and played on some ramps and steps. Then down to Roslyn to visit the waves next to the BK. After the waves we hit the rock park next to it and then the big hills leading out of Roslyn to the Custis Trail. We took the Custis Trail back to my house. Then we drove to the Rhodeside Grill for a meeting about the XTerra Tri Race series.

Jan.21 - Wednesday : Met up with Ricky, Lee, and Ariel at Colt's Neck. It was a bad night, I left my light on the charger at work, but decided to ride sans light anyway. On the first big sweeping downhill, it turned out to be all ice and I went down hard going 25+ mph on the same side of my ass as the night before. It hurt really bad so I rode back to the cars. Good thing evidently because 2 out of the 3 lights went out before the halfway mark.

Jan.22 - Thursday & Jan.23 - Friday : This was ass recovery time.

Jan.24 - Saturday : We rode Schaeffer Farms again, but this time we had a ton of people to ride the 2" of snow covered singletrack. Basically a bunch (about 20) singlespeeders from MTBR.com got together and hit up as only we could. It was cold, snowy, and a great time! Rode for about 2 hours. View Thread 1 & View Thread 2.

Jan.25 - Sunday : We got 6" of snow, so no riding tonight.

Jan.26 - Monday : No riding, but I did start my Tri training today. I went to the gym and lifted 1 set of 12 reps of all my lifting exercises. Before hand I took time to stretch. After lifting I did 5 minutes or so treadmill, even though it wasn't a run day.

Jan.7 - Wednesday : Mountain biked Colt's Neck with a few people. The air was cold as we started, but once we got on the trails and the woods blocked some of the breeze, it felt great. We did the normal loop starting from the Reston Ice Rink and heading down the trail to go through Lake Fairfax Park. After the stream crossing, we took a new section of trail that was cleaned up and reopened at my earlier trail maintenance day. It includes some singletrack into a solid rock switchback. The switchback is pretty steep and it's really hard to find the right line. I don't think anyone in the group made it through the switch back without dabbing. Once at the top, we took the new singletrack to the field, where we continued on the fire road to the main trail. We took this all the way to the Fairfax CCT where we had some fun on the ice that had covered the paved trail. We took a left onto the Fairfax CCT singletrack and headed on out. This brought us to the W&OD, which was just about the time my light went into reserve mode (very very dim), which was ok for the paved trail ride back to the cars (only about 10 minutes).

Jan.8 - Thursday : Didn't bike, but did use the gym. I did more upper body stuff as that is where I need it the most.

Jan.9 - Friday, Jan.10 - Saturday, & Jan.11 - Sunday : No real riding to mention as I drove up to Seneca Falls, NY to visit Mike & Cindy. His brother Dave was staying there and Jeremy and Alicia also came down for the weekend. We spent a lot of time catching up, seeing the town and Mike's new school - New York Chirpractic College (NYCC), but most of our time was spent playing Mario Kart Double Dash on GameCube.

Jan.12 - Monday & Jan13. - Tuesday : These were my two slacker days. I didn't go to the gym and I didn't ride. I did however spend a lot of time with Buster and Kristin (which is very important).

Jan14 - Wednesday : Mountain Biked Accotink with Scud, Gary, Noel, and Ariel. It was a great ride. Only an hour long and right at the cusp of freezing temps. It was roaming between 32 and 30, which turned out to be perfect as it wasn't too cold out, but it was cold enough to freeze the mud. We rode our normal route with a few changes thrown in, one was a big rooty hill that I didn't know the line for. After trying once and figuring out the line, I tried again and made it to the top with ease. I also came close to making it over a 2-3 foot downed tree. We rode for an hour, then a few riders retired for beers and wings.

Jan.15 - Thursday : Looks like I'll be riding Accotink again tonight. Got the bike in tow and it's supposed to be chilly - down in the 20's with a wind chill factor near zero.

Need to do a quick post to keep track of the days I have ridden:

Jan.1 - Thursday : Road ride with Kristin. Started at Haines Point, did a loop around the end of the point, then over to the Jefferson Memorial for some pics, then down to Maine Ave. where we checked out the fish market (pretty cool by the way - need to plan a visit there again). Then we headed back the way we came. Probably rode for an hour total.

Jan.2 - Friday : I was a slack ass and didn't do anything.

Jan.3 - Saturday : Mountain bike with Joe R., Joe F., and Joe P. We hit Fountainhead Regional Park and only did the first beginner loop of 2 miles before calling it quits due to the mud.

Jan.4 - Sunday : Mountain bike with Scud and 10 others at Kennedy's Peak in Lurray, VA. Had to ride up the road from the parking lot (basically a couple of miles to the top of the mountain), then we hit the ridge trail and followed that to the rocky downhill. Once down, we hit a trail across from the parking lot that leads to Duncan's Hollow. We did about 20-25 minutes before turning around and heading back to the cars. Total ride time was about 3 hours.

Jan.5 - Monday : Didn't get a chance to ride because of the rain. I did however go and lift weights in the company gym. Didn't do a lot, but about 20 minutes of upper body, good stuff.

Jan.6 - Tuesday : Mountain biked with Gary Ryan, Joe P., and Ricky D. We rode Accotink and the ride lasted about 45 minutes. The ground was frozen so there wasn't any mud, but Ricky's hub pawls froze up and he could freewheel both ways. He walked back and we rode on for a bit.

Jan.7 - Wednesday : As of right now the plan is to mountain bike at Colt's Neck with Sucd, Nancy, and Joe P. We will see how it goes. According to weather.com it's currently 30 degrees, but feels like 19. By the time we ride at 7:00pm, the sun will have gone down and it should drop a few more degrees and be around 26...
